Deep Eutectic Solvent with Methanol Mixtures

The binary mixtures formed by choline chloride + lactic acid deep eutectic solvent and methanol were studied in the full composition range as a function of temperature. Thermophysical properties were measured and combined with the derived excess and mixing properties and were analysed in terms of intermolecular interactions. A vibrational spectroscopy study provided further details into hydrogen bonding changes upon mixing. The proposed mixed system allows the control and fine tuning of the properties of the deep eutectic solvent, maintaining its features but leading to suitable thermophysical properties for large scale applications.
